How to cover wrasse tanks

As we all know wrasses are excellent jumpers(had to learn the hard way!!!):lolspin: never thought they would actually jump from my tank with an euro brace..... my first couple were fine until i added a lineatus which first hit the back wall and bounced into the overflow, then the next day end up on my floor. the funny thing was i never realized he was there was looking at the tank heard a sound on the floor and found him flopping lol, i didn't think he would make it, he was pretty dried up when i found him. but fortunately put him back and was eating later that afternoon. now to prevent that from happening wanted to know what u guys use to cover ur tanks with, i've checked home depot the window screening i don't think lets enough light through i want to find a clear netting, can anyone show me some pictures of what they use and where they got it. i am going to be adding a bunch of flame wrasses and rhamboids don't want to have them jumping out really appreciate your time guys, i would also like to thank everyone here that helps people like me out all the time.

Here's my tank with pond netting from when i originally put the tank up. ( notice test corals in the tank lol )

I agree with the nylon netting with an aluminum window frame kit (purchased at Home Depot). I could not find the type of netting I was looking for around town (a smidge smaller than 1/2 inch squares) until I went to a local winery and they had this netting covering all the vines. I looked online for the material they used and they only sold it in bulk, so I went back to the winery and helped myself to about 5 square feet of the stuff that was extra bundled on the ground (I hope they didn't mind;) but I give them plenty of business). It has worked perfectly.

Good luck,

Robka

Is egg crate enough to keep wrasses in? I have it over my tank now. The holes are about half an inch. I don't have any jumpers in the tank right now, but might like to get some soon.

Egg crate is not enough to keep most wrasses in. They can get through amazingly small spaces. Someone on here suggested using a bait net, and I tried it. It's great - the netting is clear, and the openings are just the right size - 1.4". Just stretched it with screen-window frame.

I meant 1/4". D'oh!

My light sits right on the tank so I was able to use egg crate and screen material. I cut the eggcrate to fit the top, and ziptied the screen to the crate. So far it's been keeping the jumpers in.

issue with the crate is it diffuses light. The reason i used pond netting is it does not block light, also it does not break down either. Since it's meant to be indirect sunlight , and you can also get it in black. DR. Forest & smith sell pretty much any size from 1 in down to 1/4 . I got my idea from Agentsps & MFR who have a similar screen, difference is MFR's is on a bowfront and Agentsps's is on a rimless.

The light's not blocked by the eggcrate. I have an Aquatinic fixture that sits right over the water.. I fit the crate and screen around both sides.

so the netting won't block any of my mh and t5 lights at all i don't want to see the pattern in the tank from the netting. i have also been searching for birdnetting but can only find it in black seen a few places online wiht clear don't know if they sell small amounts though. i found pond netting in green but kinda funky on a rimless euro brace. i live in toronto if anyone by any chance know where i can find some clear birdnetting please let me know but thanks for all you help guys

Let it be know this is not jump proof, but jumper resistant. I had a pearly jaw bail on me the other night. Not sure how it happened but the little punk was crispy behind the tank the other night.
