How to Dislodge my Deresa?

I've noticed that unfotunately I have some pyramidal snails around my clam. Each time i see one I either suck him up with a long feeder tube and expell him into the toilet or if i can't get him that way take a toothbrush and gently scrub my clam until the snail dislodges. My question is this, my clam is very happily attached in my sandbed, not burying himself all the way down and attaching to the tank bottom but attached enough so that when i try to move him it's difficult. Is there any way to gently dislodge him so i can check underneath for more pyramidal snails? I do have a Sixline Wrasse but still see snails, is there any other way (preferably natural predation but would consider chemical) to get rid of these snails?

Try freshwater dipping your clam in a bucket of RO water that has a PH of 8.2-8.4 at a temp of 78-80 for 10-15 min. This will kill any pest including those dam pyramidal snails. However, this dip will not kill their eggs so before you put your clam back in scrub it's shell to dislodge any remaining egg sacs.

try digging him out and cut any "threads" that extend from the foot, as long as the foot is not damaged your clam will be fine. In my tank my clams are placed in a top that I took from a Tetra aquarium food , filled with sand. when I want to check him , I flip thr top over so that the clam hangs upside down and then I cut any threads that extend from its feet and check for any snails. Excuse my typeing I've been up all day working since 9:30 yesterday morning.

Lean him to one side and cut the thread, then the other side. Be careful not to cut any tissue. The thread cut will not injur him. Tank him out to clean him and put him back. I cean my under running water. I break all the scutes so that there will not be any place for those pest to hide. Once all the parasite is gone, new shell and new scutes will grow quick enough if the clams are healthy.

FWD will not do anything to these pyramidal snails, maybe fwd will kill the pyramidal snail eggs. I recommend the pyramidal snails and eggs remove manually weekly until all are gone from your clams. Don't worry about the small lookalike snails that free living. They are not parasite. Other pyramidal snails that prey on turbo or other snails in the tank will ot infect clams. You will need to take care of these pyramidal snails also because they will kill your snails (but not clams).
