how to do t5's over a 72"x30" tank

I find that most pre-made fixtures are too thin to run on a tank this large (deep). How would you run all t5's on a 72" tank?

Get 2x36" fixtures or retrofit? What fixtures would you go for or whaich ballasts would you use in a retro fit situation.

This would be for an all SPS barebottom tank.

24" bulbs, staggered to cover the width you what. you can mix up all the spectrums and space them as tight as you like.

good idea! I wonder how wide those new Sfiligoi t5 fixtures are? Out of my price range but I'm curious just the same. I'd kinda want to go for the fixture look, but I think I could do somthing like that with 24" t5's.

I just put 24" t5 on my AGA 180. I have four 24" on each side with a 250watt mh in the center. Believe it or not I think the t5s are brighter than the MH! I only used the mh because I already had it. I think you'll be suprise with the amount of light these little guys put. (with reflectors of course)

I am getting 2x48" ATI power module fixtures with 8 bulbs per unit for my new tank 96x30x24.They also have a 10 bulb unit.Sfiligoi are very pricy $1799 per 12 bulb fixture(CDN funds) 48". it was almost $4000 for lights.The ATI models run $950 US per fixture without bulbs.Reef Geek will be getting more you can call him to order.If you want to save money let me know.PM me my cousin lives in the states I am sending my stuff ther.I can bring it across the border for you and save you duty.My brother in law is from Winnipeg,Thunder Bay his parents live in Selkerc soI can ship them to you or maybe he can bring them down if he visits.

Steve, thank you very much for the generous offer, but I am still in the very early planning stages of my next tank so I won't be actually buying lights for some time. I just want to get my feet wet.

join the club my tank had a kalk disaster last October so I have been waiting to restart.The US dollar is low now so its nice to get stuff from the states.My cousin lives in Jersey so no sales tax when you order.I am getting my tank from the states aswell as my skimmer and lights are more than what I wanted to spend.I didn't have the money so I sold some nortel stck(lost on that) I figured it will be enough money to pay for most of the equipment.I still have stuff leftover from my 150.I see you like home theatre and video games.I like you even more.I love to play x box 360 on my 46 with the system on.My wife hates that

The idea of staggering a 48" bulb is a good idea as well.

Setve, I haven't got a 360 yet, I am still a little undecided between the ps3 and the 360 but I am leaning toward the 360 because of the amount of content... sorry, I'm off track =)

the ps3 is a waste of money its overpriced and not better than the 360.Its not selling like crazy either.Sold alot at x-mas and now you see them in stores all the time.The x box has many game with great online game play
