So here is my experience and hopefully I can help some of you catch those hard to grab fishies.
I was trying to catch a yellow tang in a 6 foot x 3 foot high tank + 200 lbs of live rock with a net... it took me 2 days until i finally gave up. Around 7 hours half of that at night.
My brother in law came in, i told him to hold a flashlight and literally 30 seconds later... fish in the net BUT HE ESCAPED, we did the same thing as before and caught him again... within a minute and we were like what just happened?
You need two people, 1 flashlight, 1 net and a stick of some sort( i used a 35" algae scraper) With the scraper you steer the fish in the net's direction - once he is swimming towards the net, take the flash light and shake the light on the fish - the fish could not concentrate and was easily picked up with a net. it worked twice with my yellow tang and 3 times with my powder blue in minutes.
thats my story- it was a fluke - maybe it will help you.
