So I went to the pet store and they had the thinest Mandarin I have ever seen now I have an insane amount of copepods and I thought I could save him. 1 day later he ( and I know it's a male becuase of his fin shape) is already looking a lot brighter but it got me thinking. Is there anything I can feed him to get him back up to a decent weight because I can still see all of his bones. He is eating the copepods (the QT doesnt have as many as the main tank) and he is eating a lot of live brine shrimp (but I know they are not too good for them) he won't eat frozen food though any ideas?

just make sure you have a ton of pods in your tank. and don't bother QTing him. That's the one fish you don't qt

QTing is just a matter of routine now though and I'm doing it mainly to fatten him up because the poor guy was desperately thin like he was almost dead. The store even have me a discount due to how sickly he looked but the advisor told me that he would do better in my tank than there's because "you seen to have more food in yours he may have a chance but if he doesn't make it past the week you get a full refund". We got £10 off.

California blackworms are a good food for fattening up mandarins. You can get them online, just Google it.

A Paul B feeder and newly hatched brine shrimp helps. They can just sit on it and gorge themselves without having to roam the tank hunting. It might help with the QT time.

Thank you all of you. I have some brine shrimp eggs that I might try and I'll buy some blackworms.

Live white worms and frozen roe are always worth a try too. The baby brine will do a good job helping them gain.

frozen capelin roe fattened mine up and i even saw some growth over a short period of time.
its really cheap too. the chinese market in my area sells a box for $4 and it lasted me a year.
