how to feed yellow watchman goby

I just got yellow watchman goby. It has been staying at one corner of the tank for two days without coming out for eat. How should I feed it? What food is best for it?

Luckily it will pick at things on the sand naturally, so that buys you a little time until you can get it to eat. What are you currently feeding it?

These are great fish. The one I had would usually dart out and grab food as it floated by. Mine was quite shy so it might take a few more days for the new addition to get use to the new surroundings. Also if your tank is not covered you might want to think about adding egg crate or something for the top. The watchman that I had decided to go carpet surfing. I was bummed out; I had the fish for over two years.

Good Luck

Once he gets familiar with the area he'll start eating whatever flows by his area. They eat anything. Well mine does.

I agree mine eats food as it passes by him but I will acassionally put a small piece of krill on some long surgical forceps/tweezers and let it loose for only him to get

Mine also waits for food to come by and darts out and grabs it. It eats whatever I am serving.

Yep.... mine comes out of his cave when it's feeding time and goes to town. Usually though, he's in his cave playing solitaire, but he's always up for a photo shoot if the opportunity is there.

A yellow watchman and the randall's goby in the pic are shrimp gobies which are not the sand-sifting type. There are basically 3 different types of gobies, sand-sifters, shrimp or prawn gobies, and then all the other gobies. Prawn gobies can form symbiotic relationships with pistol shrimp.

Learn something new everyday in this hobby. The one specific goby mentioned for cleaning sand was the diamond goby. Do you know any others? I may be getting one this weekend.

You clearly have a beautiful shrimp golby. What are some others that are so good looking and readily available? I've looked at pictures but I don't have the experience to know which ones are good and easy to get(not so expensive)for the pistol shrimp. I may have one of those and if I do I'll want to get him a buddy.

Do you ever get sand into the shrimps hole? I was thinking if I fill in the holes I might see if they get cleaned out. Or would the pistol shrimp just move?

I bought my watchman and pistol shrimp together. Since added to my tank, they have had nothing to do with each other. The pistol has found a nice home in a borrow under a front rock which is nice. The watchmen hangs up in on corner of the tank. It's been this way for a month. Any ideas?

wow. How disapointing. Does your pistol shrimp ever make a click sound? Kind of the same sound as when the lights go out except a tone or two, or three quieter.

Amblyeleotris randalli or Randall's prawn goby is one of my favorites as prawn gobies go. Not too small and fairly peaceful, plus it is known to form relationships with any pistol shrimp. I used to have one with a tiger pistol a while ago. There are many other kinds of shrimp gobies like the yellow watchman, which is also a good choice. Some of the shrimp gobies might try to quarrel with there own kind and some even pick at inverts. The pink-spotted shrimp goby tends to be fairly aggressive towards other gobies and inverts even.

I don't know why you would want to fill in its hole, but he would probably stay in the area.

Yep, he does click from time to time. Kinda cool!

I recently set up a 225 gallon aquarium and put a watchman Gobi in and he has disappeared I've been trying to find him for the last two days I know that they eat food that's floating by but with such a large aquarium I'm afraid I can't make sure that food floats by him Any suggestions would be greatly Appreciated.
