How to frag a Cult Coral?

This coral grows out of control and I was wondering if anyone had any secrets on how to get the freshly fragged pieces to attach to some sort of rubble.

sew them on with monofiliment fishing line and a needle, tie it to the rock, don't tie so tight it cuts through.

Thanks for the reply. I have done many types of line and even tooth picks and probably 75% of the frags end up drifting around the tank because either the line or the tooth pick has cut through. I guess I just tied it to tightly

yes most likely.

I've had the best results by using a zip-tie placed around where you want to frag, then over several weeks slowly close the zip-tie a click or two at the time till the frag 'pops off' when it separates it'll have a crust where you're wanting to attach it and it's easier to get it secured, but this method is longer and requires more work on your part.

I've used the toothpick method before on colts with success. For my toadstool I used super glue, so perhaps that might work for colts as well.

You can make cuttings and let them sit on your crushed coral bed. In 2 or 3 days the coral will attach to some of the rubble and then can easily be glued to a plug. It is passive but works very well.

I made an container to hold them. I cut a 2 litter bottle about 4 inches from the bottom all the way around. then filled it with rubble and put a peice of vail or screen over the top tie it down with a bubberband. It will attach itself to one of the peices of rubble and you will not loose any peices.

good luck

get some nice clean scissors, and go to town with that bad boy! :) Then attach the fragged piece of a plug or some live rock rubble. The mother colony (if healthy) should recover in no time. Colt corals are pretty hardy.

i got mine to attach by using a piece of a plastic mesh (looks like a screen door, but plastic). I put the mesh over the frag and rubberbanded it to the rock. i left it that way for about a week or two (cant remember) and it attached itself.

Cut it with a scissors, and put the base of the frag under a rock. It'll attach to the rock in a week or two.
