how to frag a tounge coral?

I didnt know you could frag one of these until I saw it for sale. Can you use just a saw? Any care and considerations when cutting or aftercare??

I guess I'd suggest searching under tounge propagation, or the latin genus name and propagation on google?

Thanks Mark... Of course after reading the article, I have more questions than when I started....


Id really like to know if the tounge coral will have the same type of regrowth as the Fungia? And I was thinking of just cutting it into thirds, its about 10" long.

Anyone done this before.... BUMP

I have cut them using a pair of shrub shears. The cut portion heals in about a week.

Kevin, did you get a clean break with shrub shears??? Anything you suggest that would work better now that you tried it with them?

Anthony uses a tile saw but I just used what I use for all the other corals because that's what I had available. The cut was not perfectly straight but rather snapped when I started to cut it.

I have a decent sized tounge coral also. I'm not sure I could just "cut" the thing in half and risk loosing it.
