How to frag zoo's?

I have some very large zoo colonies that I need to start fragging but the rocks they are on cannot be easily removed from the tank or the rockwork as they are supporting pieces. What is the easiest way to frag these? when I poke at them and they retract I can see the different colonies of tissue that they are on but they seem really well attached.

You'd have to remove the rock from the tank. Otherwise you will end up damaging more than you will be able to frag. You have to get under the Zoa and remove a layer of rock and I don't see how you can do it with the rock in the tank.

I started a nasty infection in my tank last year with trying to frag in the tank. I ended up slicing trough the zoa matt instead of getting under it. The result was nasty. I lost about 10 colonies before realizing what was happening. I then had to remove, treat and quaratine all the remaining colonies and frags. They survived, but the experience was dreadful.

If you have no choice in removing the rock, I have had luck with using bone cutters to cut into the rock below the zoa mat. Then use a razor to cut the zoas free from the rest of the colony. This works well if the rock is pourous.
Cheers
