how to get a yuma to detach?

I bought a yuma rock last night that has polyps on all sides!!! I have the rock precariously balanced in my fuge right now so no one is getting squished. I would like to move the yumas to my display tank but I wont be able to get the rock to balance in there due to flow and fish movement. Aside from trying to frag the rock apart (I'm pretty sure I'll mush some if I try that), anybody have any tricks to get them to detach from the rock?

Wish normal mushrooms you can sometimes put them directly in high flow and they'll be so unhappy they detach and float around until they find a better spot, but with yumas I wouldn't suggest that, since they're far too moody and "delicate".

I'd say your only option is to try to either dig a chisel underneath the foot and try to break it off a piece of rock with the polyp attached to it, or to use a very sharp razor or pair of scissors to cut it off at the foot as close to the rock as possible and then attach it to a new rock using one of a number of different methods (jar-o-rocks, bridal veil, sewing it to a rock, etc).

I hope this helps.

High flow directed at the yuma would probably be best. Much better than if you have to remove it from the water to chisel it off. Can work in combo. Direct high flow and when it is starting to detatch use a flat, blunt instrument to ply it the rest of the way.
