how to get clams to multiply

how does this happen and do i have to have specific water parameters for this happen

Get a copy of the book Giant Clams by Daniel Knopf, he tells all you would ever want to know about tridacnids and then some. I don't believe that you would have the set up to breed these animals due to space, equipment, etc. But hobbiest have had these animals spawn in home systems but I do not believe that they have ever had larval clams settle out in home sytems.

I recently had one to broadcast sperm into the tank. I believe it was due to stress since this was a new clam to me and it happened only a couple of days after receiving it in the mail. Pretty cool to watch, but after further researching it...it seems that clams need much larger systems to spawn in than is feasible by hobbiests. Here is a pic of the broadcast...
