how to get clowns to host GBTA

I've had a couple of percs in my tank for about 5 months now. About a month ago, I put a GBTA in and my clowns are not hosting it yet... it's as if they don't even care to notice it... is there anything I can do to make them host the anenome?

i got my to host rbta in two days, here the trick. when your light goes out at night. use the flash light and shine right on the gbta. it's almost as if you trying to get the clowns to notice their new home. i hope this works for you.

Clownfish are weird sometimes. I put a frogspawn in my tank hoping my clown would host in it. It didn't for about a year, and then one day it became obsessed with the thing. Almost to the point where I was worried it would stress the FS out.

I dont like to make clowns to host an anemone because if they are not ready they are not ready and will host when they are ready.I look at it like this I live in a home I like I dont want to move away if I like it there. Now if I dindnt like it there I would move.So the clown likes were he lives now and till he wants to move he'll stay there were hes at.Just give sit time.

I have tried the light trick, the picture trick and tried feeding near the anemone to get the clowns to take notice...None of them worked...Some people seem to have some success with these methods but then again, it may also be a coincidence in some cases...

After about 5 months I just gave up on the idea and came to terms with it. Then on Monday when I came up to the tank I noticed my female dart away from the location where my GBTA is located. She knew it was feeding time so I fed them and sat back away from the tank and right after feeding she darted in! I almost couldn't believe it!

I really think it is all up to the clown when they feel like hosting. She took no notice in either my GBTA or RBTA for months and out of the blue she decided to make it her home. I'm wondering if this may have something to do with her recent transition to being the female (dominate) of the two. They were both juvenile's when I ordered them, and within the last couple weeks it was clear she was eating like a pig and grew really fast. My male still hasn't joined her, but It's interested to watch the female try to convince him its ok to "dive" in. He will go right up to it and watch her splash around in the anemone and then quickly dart off! And whats even more strange is that he darts to the surface and flutters across it for some reason...Have no idea what that means, but he doesn't seem to be under any distress or anything...Strange.

Anyway, good luck with your clown! My suggestion is to just give them time. When they're ready they will take the plunge. Its definitely a neat thing to experience.

so, gonna try the following in order:

1) shine a flashlight after the lights turn out at the anenome.. hopefully, my 8 inch sailfin tang doesn't get mixed signals cause if he tried to host the GBTA, I don't think the GBTA would last too long :-)

2) wait it out and just hope for the best

3) put a foreclosure notice on the anenome and hope that the clowns are looking for a cheap bargain

i had a friend that put pictures of clownfish in an anemone and it worked... wierd! but it worked.

i think i'll try the flashlight idea. i have 2 clowns that are currently hosting a large clam.

I JUST HEARD THAT TANK RAISED CLOWNS NEED MORE TIME TO GET A HOST. MY BLACK PERC ARE IN MY TANK FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. I TRIED THE PICTURE METHOD AND I THINK THATS BS. I THINK TIME IS THE KEY.

My anemone has finally started hosting my clowns as of last night. I'm so happy! I tried a few of the methods but as sarasotadiver said, time is the key. Though I've alone had the anemone for a little over a month. It depends on each clownfish and anemone though so sometimes it takes a while.

I have been reading a book about the clowns and nems, and was wondering if maybe the carbon we use to clean the "chemicals" from our water column may be contributing to the fact that sometimes it takes a while, if ever, for them to pair up.

I have 0 experience in this area, it was just something I thought of.

My false perc has been flirting with my RBTA for over a month now (they've been in the same tank for 5 - 6 months). Friday I added a 2nd clownfish to the tank, and within 3 hours the existing clownfish decided she had better stake her claim and has been happily wiggling around in the RBTA since then. She even sleeps in it now. This morning they were both in there =)

I tried the picture thing months ago and both the clownfish and my girlfriend laughed at me.
