i bot a very healthy nem then a few weaks later i had some workers paint my house. they unplugged my filers and when i came back the tank was over run by algae.
since then my clown barely is ever hosted and pretty much ignores the nem. I also noticed the nem started to bleach. So i increased my lighting from 2 39 wat t5 HO with individual reflectors to 4 24 watt t5 ho with a reflecor. The nem hasnt brightened up so im trying to feed him but he refuses to eat. I tried squid, mysis, and store bot shrimp. ive owned him a bit longer then a month and only managed to get him to eat once which was a few weeks back

the tank is 29 gallons, ammonia is it 0, nitrates never go over 20 and are currently around 10ppm, and my salinity is around .25. the nem is a bubble tip.

If the nem is bleached, moving it to lower light or reduce the amount of light would be better. Intensifying the light I dont think is the solution. Have you tried feeding the nem silversides**(sp)?

no silver slides, last night i took some small nls pellets and they were small enough for me to directly slip them inside the mouth, im not sure if he ate them but he was expelling waste this morning and last night.

Why does lowering the light help? I would think the opposite. Although with the new light he hides alot

would lowering the light encourage him to eat since the nem would relize it has to eat to suffice for lower lighting?

Where is he at in the tank? Attached? Pics???

He usually likes it at the bottom i cant get pics right now but i have some on my computer from earlier

heres a pic when first bot

Bleaching can be from both too much or too little light. If you are saying it is hiding from the new light, I would cut back on the time it is on. Was it bleached before or after the new light?

Being bleached, the zoo in it is weak and/or dead and isn't helping keep it energized. You have to find something to get it to eat.

this is a vid to the blached anenome how he is now.- i slipped a pellet in his stomach and the clowns are trying to pull it out lol.

He started to bleach a few weeks after the tank "crash" which was still when i was using the old lighting. He doesnt seem to be eating very well so im concerned in how to get his brown color back.

any ideas in how to feed stuborn nem

thanks for the thread. Im starting to think my nem bleached from 2 much light. my original lighting was an aquaticlife fixture with 2 t5 ho bulbs at 39 wats with individual reflectors. . when the nem started to bleach i upgraded to an odyessa fixture with 4 t5 ho bulbs at 24 watts thinking he was bleaching from not enough light. Maybe i made the problem worse

After reading some more there seem to be other issues that can keep a nem from eating. What are your water parameters? (including SG) More research has show if the SG or other levels are out of whack, the nem will not eat and bleach due to stress. It is very possible your lighting is sufficient but the stress the nem has is bleaching it.
