How to get your clowns to host anemone

After two weeks of watching and hoping I finally had enough. I had read a prior posting from someone who had moved there tank after a long time and the clowns finally hosted the anemone.

Tonite I got out the blue net and chased the two ocellaris clowns around the tank. The first two times I chased for a few times. The 3rd time I would stop if they got near the anemone. I stopped and one of them after a few started rubbing.

I then chased again but this time did it longer. Both would seek shelter and I would stop. If they moved away I would move the net. After about a few minutes I stopped and now they are hosting.

Glad that worked for you, but it is a danger game to play -- especially with a Haddoni, which have a very powerful sting and are very sticky. More then once I have heard of a Haddoni eating a clownfish.

Not a bad trick though...

It could be...sometimes (especially with un-natural pairings) the clowns have to build up their slime coating to be able to withstand the sting of their would be host. Forcing a clown into an anemone can be risky and as Todd mentioned, haddoni has a pretty potent sting and is a known fish eater.
