hey guys,

Im not very experienced with plumbing. im hoping to install my true union check valve. i know i have to plumb it myself. i am using an eheim return pump. does anyone know where i could find detailed instructions on how to install/plump a check valve to my system?

any threads out there? how do most people install theirs? thanks

Why are you using a check valve? They are horrible in fish tanks.

As for installation its easy. You cut out the section of pipe where you want to put it and then use pvc primer and glue to clue it in. The flapper needs to be on the top side.

If it is to be mounted horizontal make sure gravity will close the valve.

Think of the valve as a door that opens inward and you are the water. It has to be installed in that orientation.

There should be a flow direction arrow or something... If not... Obviously you want the flow to go up towards tank.

And as racer said, don't just rely on this to keep your tank from siphoning...

I have one installed, and it's been about a month or 2, and still doesn't always close every time. Make sure you have your returns high enough in tank to only let a little water drain.

Here's how I hooked mine up to my eheim.
