How to make zoa frags

Finally I have got my tank to a good spot and I have some zoas that are growing and I can start taking frags form them. What I am wondering is how do you guys make frags with out removing the LR from your tank.

Do you just use a razor to get under them to lift them off?

I've never done it yet, but there are plenty of videos on you tube showing how.

I've tried a couple times without removing the LR, it was very difficult. Its much easier with it removed. I also found this video very helpful and I think its from a local guy.

Fragging in the tank can be difficult. When it's my only option I use a sharp exacto knife and try and cut some of the live rock with the zoas (meaning I don't just cut the zoa tissue off the rock, but I that i shave off the top potion of live rock the zoas are attached too). IF you have patience you could always set a piece of rubble rock or a frag plug next to your zoas and let them grow onto it.
Oh and if you frag in the tank, make sure to turn all your pumps off. I've lost zoas when I forgot to do this.

Imo don't scrape them off what I do even when fraging from a frag plug I use a razor blade or scalpel and cut the tissue where I would like to frag then cut with bone cutter. If done right where you run the razor blade it should in theory you'll get a nice piece with a small live rock chunk Live rock I feel is some times softer then cutting a frag plug so a little chunk of rock should be no problem to cut under water with little effort
