How to place hammer coral?

My next purchase will be a hammer coral or frogspawn coral. My question is, how do I place these in the water? I feel as if it is not good to touch these animals. Should I use gloves, like dishwashing gloves?

It couldn't hurt to use aquarium safe powder free latex gloves IMO. Just be sure you're delicate with the coral because it is very easy to damage them, even when they're receded; also hold the coral by its skeleton when moving it.

Thanks for the reply!

I saw some at the store that were very tiny, ball shape about 2 inches across. Not sure if 12 bucks is a good price, but it seems worth it.

A couple of things on Euphylia anchora(hammers).

Moderate flow and light are good bets. Make sure the coral is closed before you take it out of the water. You can wave at it with your hand or twirl it slowly in the water untill it receeds. When extended it is full of water and it's weight. If you take it out without letting it expell the water it can tear on it's skeleton.

Thanks, I did not know that! I'm sure it would of retracted when acclimating and such. Also, it's good to keep in the shade at first right?

Shade and gradual introduction to the light is a good idea particularly for specimens that have been in a prolonged period of darkness as is sometimes the case with shipped specimens. If you got it locally you can put it in conditions similar to those it was in at the store.
