how to prepare for adding several fishes at a time ?

Hi,

I have 6 foot tank. It has cycled and contains few small fishes, shrimps as well as few frags to see how all goes. All goes OK.
My question is what I can do to prepare to accommodate 6 tangs at once ? As I know that it is best to add all tangs at once to avoid fighting. And those tangs are all mature from a single tank that is going to be shut down soon.
Can I artificially grow more bacteria to help with ammonia spike or something ?

If you want more bacteria, feed the bacteria you have now a little more so they will multiply. It will cause a spike. Be prepared for a lot of water changes to lower your unwanted levels. 6 fish is a lot of fish at one time.

If all 6 of those Tangs were in one common tank, they should be well acclimated to one another and the hierarchy should remain intact.

I would feed sparingly for a few weeks to allow your bacteria colony to catch up.

Absolutely NO AMMONIA---it'll kill things bigtime.

I'd qt the lot of tangs with eggcrate dividers between them, so they stay used to each other, then move them when ready. Your biological filter should be ok when you move them in, but feed them often, but sparingly ---ie, divide the feeding you would do into smaller bits, and that will help reassure them, keep them expectant, and still keep the bioload down. If you do have a rowdy one, again, screen off the area with eggcrate until the snit passes.

Tangs live together few years already. They will spend in transportation no longer than half an hour.

Then they should be fine. I'd put in the most timid of them first, aggressives last, and be ready with a plastic lighting grid barrier just in case. Even if you have rockwork, a fish can be penned in a corner for a day or so.

Has to report that all went good.
All fishes are happily swimming in a new place.
All I did was adding as many bacteria as per instructions and feeding fish minimally to start. Feeding was increased by a bit every few days. After two weeks they got to eat as many they want.
