How to quarantine corals

Dear all,

I always use Seachem Reef Dip to dip corals before put in display tank. But I think, the parasite, bacteria ... may hitchhike.

I'm setting up a quarantine tank, but do not know how to quarantine them. Could you please show me how to do?

Thanks so much

I will typically do a dip then put them in a QT for a week then another dip before putting them in the DT. I am personally am not to concerned about ich on corals but rather the coral pests that can come in with a coral. Good luck just my 2 cents.

I have a related question about quarantining corals and figure I'd ask here.

If you're setting up a quarantine tank specifically for coral, does it need a skimmer and all that? Or can you get away with just a shallow tank, a nice light, a heater, and some circulation?

you do not need a skimmer to run a saltwater tank. just helps alot to keep nutrients levels down. but to answer your question, you will be fine in a qt with a light heater and powerheads.

Any suggestions for a good light for a coral qt that won't break the bank? Say 10 or 20 gal?

I learnt my lesson not doing this. Just got a 4head frogspawn frag. Dipped double dose for 15 min. And straigt into the DT. I now have flatworms.....as dips dont kill eggs...as i do not have a wrasse yet i will need to treat my DT...QT Everything its worth it.
