how to read my test kit

The test kit that I have has a little "test tube" and a card to match the colors against when the test is done.

The card has some white space on the side. Am I supposed to hold the test tube on the card on the white to read it? Or hold the card in one hand and the tube in the other hand right next to the card, but not over it?

There is a color difference in these two methods.

I am so confused. They should make this easier. Let me know if there is a better way to do this.

Thank you.

Which test kit are you using? That question should be answered by the instructions. The answer varies on the test kit and the range you're trying to test.

I don't think there are any specific directions that came with the kit. Just the general directions for each test, ie....ammonia, nitrate etc.

I feel kind of dumb because I don't even know what brad I have, but........it is the one with the little fish on it that is dressed like a doctor.

yea you just hold it against the white card under some light...

i just got the same kit today...i'm a newb like yourself!

that would be aquarium pharmaceuticals and i quote

" the tube should be viewed against the white area beside the color chart. color comparisons are best made in a well-lit area"
