How to remove Anemone ?

I have a 12 gal nano, has been set up for a year and half.
Sometime last year I bought a anemone (first one ever for myself)
I believe it to be a Florida Pink tip ? Well my clarkii has informed
me that this is not anemone for him. I would like to evict this
guy, he has grown quit big now for the 12 gal. I have asked him
to leave and he refuses. I don't want to get rough with him:mad: . Any way I can persuade him?

[welcome]

Try moving a powerhead so that the flow is hitting it (not too strong, though), and that might make it try to relocate elsewhere, then you can try getting it out.

I have heard that putting an ice cube on the base will cause it to release a bit so something can be inserted under the foot to get it out works, but I am not sure if that's the best approach.

Thank you for your advise icam
I will try both of them.
My Lfs said they would swap my Lr with anemone for a piece of
their Lr. I don't like this idea, so I hope this will work.

Thanks Again!

That's not too bad an idea - swapping with the lfs. You don't want to damage the anemone's foot when you try to remove it from the rock. Although, I agree that a peice of LR for your rock AND anemone doesn't seem quite fair.
What kind of nem is this?
Good luck!

I can't possibly imagine a 12g tank is big enough for a clarkii. What are the dimensions of your tank? My clarkii is 5+"

I'm not sure on type of anemone. I was told Florida Pink tip, he has
done quite well and has more than doubled in size(I'm working on pictures)The Lr I purchased is from a different lsf and is of top
quality(premium Fiji). I don't believe I will receive the same quality,
BUT if I can't move him I will take the loss. The clarkii is 2" and is
doing fine but he will not go near this anemone. I do realize that
the clarkii will out grow this tank. He will be relocated into my 75gal. I'm new to this web site and have learned a great
deal already. Thanx to all who reply !

I'm guessing it's a cody. It should be a fairly cheap anemone.

I just got done removing an anemone from a hole in a live rock
that absolutely refuse to move. I try blasting its foot with a power head for 2 nights and days, no movement. I try icing and dripping cold ice water on its food, nothing. It's skin just peel off and it just shrivel up. Anemone was soo stress out, it look really bad.

Finally I give up and just toss the rock in my sump and turning the rock and anemone updside down. BAM !!!, 6 hours later, anemone moved to the top side of the rock and I was able to get it off the rock.

I wasn't able to follow either link so I can't really say much about the anemone but condy's are the only anemone that are indigenous to Florida that I have seen in the trade. If it was less than $15 then I'd say it's almost certainly condy. Condy are not natural clown hosts and are much less likely to be hosted by a clownfish than just about any other anemone.

The 75 is a much better home for the clarkii. I got mine a little over 2.5" and they are in my 72 and I can't imagine them in a 12. I'd suggest moving him as soon as possible and put a couple ocellaris or percula (tank bred) in the 12. I'm sure a lonely clown would rather have another clown than an anemone as a tank mate.

I might just dump this guy in my sump !
I didn't pay much for him so your description is probably right.
Yeah It might be time for my clarkii to move to the penthouse.

Thanx again ( I can't stop reading the forums. I am like a sponge
and my girl friend is going to squeeze the salt out of me if I don't
stop!

it just gets worse. I have 7 clowns right now in 3 different tanks plus another for trying to raise the next batch of clarkii eggs. And I'm seriously considering setting up another 30gal tank or two. My wife is NOT thinking about setting up any more tanks!

We started with a 30 fresh, after many years, converted to SW. Then, recently, we set up a little one gal. for the kids, it's fresh. We moved the fish from that into a 20 gal fresh, and now have one naughty fish in the 1 gal (she'll be making a trip back to the store!) We've been working on setting up a 75 gal for a year or more now. So, in my living room, there's an empty 75 on a rather large stand, a 30 stocked with SW, and then on the adjoining wall, the 20 fresh, the 1 gal on my kitchen counter, oh yeah, we have an empty 20 that will be made into a sump for the 30. We're keeping the 30 set up even after the 75 is done. It will be mostly anemone and clown tank since the sebae takes up nearly half already. We're talking about putting a BIG one downstairs when we finish that off, and my hubby would like a nano in our room. I'm into it just as much as he is, so we're twice as nuts!
Good luck!!!!

I'm starting to sway my better half, she has agreed to 125gal or 150 gal.
1st I must marry her, 2nd buy a house.SOOO It might be a while!
Ha Ha!
It's good I'm not the only one out there.
