How to safely move an Anemone?

I bought a 5" RBTA from another RC member and put it in a plastic cup (big mistake) to let it goes through the normal acclimation procedure. Now, it stuck to the bottom of the cup and doesn't want to come out. I've tried the flush it out with the powerhead method, and even shaking the cup and still no luck.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

Is it a solo cup? Rub ice on the bottom of the cup and get the base really cold it should let go, if you can fit your hand in the cup you can rub the ice directly on the nem's foot.

It's in one of this plastic container that I got it from IKEA.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try your method tonight when I get home.

If it will fit you can also just put that container on its side in the tank and the nem will crawl out on its own looking for light/flow.

I did that!! It has been over 30 hours now and it's still inside the cup. It doesn't want to come out and play with the clownfishes.

OH that kind of cup haha. Yeah I can see how he would like it. I like the idea on putting the ice cube on the cup so the plastic will get cold and he will release. My nems are tough buggers. Just wait till you start feeding him. The mother colony was 14 inches across haha.

Well, I used the ice cube method and it doesn't work. This guy doesn't want to budge at all so I cut the cup apart and let it rest on the bottom of the tank next to a piece of rock.
Lo and behold, it moved onto the rock about 2 minutes later. Finally, the saga is over and the Clownfishes are very happy with their new home.

lol. This is funny. Anemones are stubborn. You'll find out pretty quick that you have very little say in where they go and what they do. Wait til you gotta deal with the clowns if you ever gotta move it out of the tank again. Mine are so dedicated to their home, they would not let me pull it out of the tank without them in it. They would chase it down at the last moment as it was getting pulled out, so that when the anemone collaped when it came out of the water, it would capture the head of the fish. It was a funny sight, all you saw was the back half of the fish sticking out. :lol:
