Have them do a Hold For Pickup shippment. You will need to know the address of either a UPS or Fedex location before hand and the shipper must specify its a hold for pickup shippment. If they just put your name and the store address, the store will just return it. Shouldn't cost anything extra I don't think, just a different form to fill out. Then when it arrives they call you and you can go pick it up without it having been in a local delivry truck all day.
