How to Ship?

I need to send my buddy in New York and overnight package and I figured I would throw a frag or two in the box also to see if it lives. Can anyone recommend best way to ship coral so I have my best chances?

FYI, the coral isn't going to be the most expensive, some zoas, xenia, maybe a candy cane and mushroom so I'm trying to just give it its best shot. I was going to put them all in small individual bags, then vacuum seal those bags and wrap it up with some sort of heat pack. Then fingers crossed. thoughts?

Depending on how bad the weather is like you might not want to ship right now. I haven't checked it so I don't know.
I don't think you can vacuum seal a bag with water, but you don't want to. Put the zoo or xenia in the bag with some air and secure it tight so it can't leak. For candy canes it is best to attach (rubber band) the bottom to a piece of styrofoam. Put this in the bag upside down so it floats in the water. The coral part will be floating upside down. This will help prevent the fleshy part from rubbing on the bag to much. It is best to have the styrofoam piece bigger than the candy cane itself. Tie or rubber band the bag with air. The shipping box will either need to be a styrofoam box or lined with styrofoam. If you line the box yourself then tape the edges to seal it. Mark the box perishable and arrows pointing which side up. Wrap a heat bag in newspaper and tape it to the lid.
Use good thick bags and double bag.

Renee nailed it. Also the weather up in NY is pretty ugly right now. I'd consider waiting till after the holidays for shipping livestock.
