How to sterilize and clean a sump?

I have shut down the sump from my 60G ready to transfer the sump to my new 40B build.

I had an Aiptasia infestation that was impossible to control...So I want to sterilize EVERYTHING.
Also there is general coraline and other growths in places.

What would be the best way to make the sump squeeky clean and ready for the new tank?

It is an Acrylic sump...will that damage anything?

I think he meant diluted muriatic acid with maybe a 30:1 ratio of water:acid.

I would try vinegar first. Depends on how much buildup you have, but I've seen people even clean up very heavy coralin buildup with plain vinegar. You can always move to a stronger acid if you need to, but vinegar definitely won't hurt acrylic.
