How to stick this coral

Anyone has a suggestion on how I could stick this coral to the rock?

fingerleatherbase.jpg

The base is stuck in a shell... On the picture, I'm trying to hold it in place on the rock... If I don't do that, the shell moves because of the water flow.

Should I break the shell and just let the base of the coral sit on the rock?

Suggestions needed please!

Thanks,

Julien

Yeah, I think if you break the shell and put the coral on a rock, it should attach. That is what happened with my ricordea mushrooms at least. Otherwise, you can epoxy it on the rock and it will be stuck there whether it wants to or not. :)

Julien, it looks like a leather coral ? if so I have one that came to my on a very small piece of rock, I put it between two other rocks, and in a few weeks it attached itself to the larger rock.
good luck

or wire tie the shell to the rock fishing line would also work as well as epoxy I wouldnt seperate the leather from the shell if it already attached IMO

You could put a wad of putty where there's a hole in base rock, then jam the shell into the wad, enough to curve and form a socket, and stick it without annoying your leather. Connection could still be broken until he overgrows it.

What I'm trying to do with the stick is to push the finger leather against the rock...

If there is contact, I believe the coral will eventually attach to it right?

I also want to get rid of that shell... Does the finger leather corals move like the xenia if it sticks to the rock?
