how to treat tissue damage

I have a large mixed reef tank in my classroom and sometimes students accidentally injure coral. Other than maintaining water quality I wondering how to best keep the injured corals healthy and keep the tissue from becoming infected and the damage spreading. Please see attached pictures of some of the tissue damage. I've had both pieces of coral for a while and am rather attached to them. Would it be best to dip them in iodine or otherwise keep the tissue disinfected.

I also had a question about some red cottony algae, can anyone identify it?

A bunch of us here on RC have been working on protocol on how to treat injured/diseased/infected coral. It looks like you may have a variety of issues (now and will in the future with students), so the thread may be useful.

If the corals are just stung by each other in a healthy system, usually they will recover on their own with little intervention. I like to use CoralRx if they need a bit of a boost, but Lugol's iodine works as well.
