How to use Ozone?

To those who are experienced in Ozone use for Reef Aquaria, I have questions:

What equipment will I need? From what Ive read, the Ozotech Poseidon Generators are the best. Agreed?

Next I'm going to need an air dryer. What is a good model?

Third would be an air pump. The Coralife Luft Pump is made with ozone resistant materials. Would you use this pump, or do you know of another model?

How many Mg/Hr do I pump/dose for a ~300 gallon system?

How do I implement Ozone with my Deltec skimmer?

How important would an ORP probe be? Im going to monitor the entire system with a ReefKeeper, which has a probe inlet for ORP so I could easily implement a probe with the Ozone system. What does ORP even mean?

I just set up Ozone using the Ozotech Poseidon, Avast Ozone Reactor, Seaside Aquatics Media Reactor for Charcoal, Luft Air Pump and the Bulk Reef Supply air dryer. I would not suggest using ozone without a probe/controller.

For sure, you will need to run the treated water through some type of charcoal or it will smell. I had a few people tell me that I did not need charcoal, but from my experience your entire room will smell without it. I am running directly from my ozone reactor to a media reactor with charcoal (backwards with ozone water into media reactor out).

The ozone generator doesnt "push" ozone, just creates it. You have 2 options:

1. Use the venturi from the skimmer to "pull" ozone from the generator. Run carbon on the output of the skimmer or you will smell ozone.

(The air dryer keeps moisture from degrading the ozone internal components). So, in the situation: air dryer--->ozone generator--->skimmer @ venturi--->carbon on water output (Make sure skimmer is ozone safe)

2. (What I use): Luft air pump--->air dryer--->reactor. At the same time, water from a dedicated pump or I use a manifold from the main pump goes into the reactor, leaves reactor thru carbon reactor (Next Reef), back into sump.

You will definately want a way to measure ORP. Apex controls mine.

FWIW, Im using the Ozotech Poseidon Ozone Generator 200mg/hr (Variable Output), Luft air pump, and air dryer from Bulk Reef Supply and an Avast Ozone Reactor (the middle sized one). With those 4 pieces, it came with EVERYTHING you need including ozone safe tubing, air gauges, check valves, etc etc.

Buy the adjustable one; it's only a few dollars more. If you buy a smaller one for your tank now, you may regret it if you ever upgrade to a larger tank and you could have had a bigger one for a little more.

Since that is highly variable from tank to tank, even of the same size, the trick is to start low. Bump it up a little every couple of days and closely monitor results until you get to the point where you are getting a positive effect (rising ORP) without issues of smelling ozone.

Ok that make some sense. I do have a 165 gal tank i will set up and was not sure what value you use to guesstimate the size unit for your tank size.
