I have some aggressive damsels. they kill any small beautiful fishes introducing in my tank. I am planing get rid of them. I tried many ways to catch them. but I failed all the times. next week, I have to use the final option. HOOK THEM. I know it will be risky for the lelf fishes in my tanks. they may be hooked too. But it seems I have no choice if I want to have more small fishes. Any experience here. thanks. dont tell me that I put out all my corals and rocks.

SHOOT EM ELIZIBETH! SHOOT EM!
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

i would borrow a fish trap from someone, make another post and ask to borrow one from someone. i have a scuba net i use but its huge and requires alot of room, then i put the food in the bottom of it and yank it out. The last resort option is to rip your tank apart completely or you could draing the whole thing till the fish are in just enough water to breath and yank them out that way, but if you have corals you must have a fast pump to pump the water in and out.

i use my trap with a cap today but it seems not work because my damsels are smart. I will wait until tomorrow. If not work, i will buy a tiny hook to take them out. Jesus, I just found out they killed my cleaner shrimp, nails, and 1 star fish. when i hook them, i will show their pic. I cant wait

Darn Damsels!

Darn Damsels!

:deadhorse1: Drain half of water out of tank and corner them into plastic bags placed around the tank to trap them .. Clear plastic...

introduce a 2L soda bottle trap and dont feed the tank for a couple days . . . then baster in some pellets to the trap and check it every half hour or so. worked like a charm for me.

The fish trap will work, you gotta be a little patient. Leave it in the tank for a couple of days, the fish will go in, they're not that smart.
Good luck!

i bought hooks already. Now i am thinking how to hook the damsels only. afraid of hooking my tangs and clown fishes. I will picture them as i catch them,

i'd start with this strategy...i caught a very snappy damsel with this method last week...look on youtube for a diy on how to make the trap...very simple

If you try the hook method, it works, but... MAKE SURE to use NON-BARBED HOOKS. It won't injure the fish you intend to catch, or the ones you didn't.

I used a gallon bottle of Gatorade to catch a 12 line wrasse in my tank.

Don't feed for 2 days...put some food at the bottle of the bottle and wait for the wrasse to go in. Stay near the tank with the net in hand.

I placed the gallon bottle on the sand bed and lowered the flow of water. It took only a couple of minutes...and next thing you know that wrasse was inside!

Day 1 and 2: use a trap with a cap. Put the food inside for all day. The Fish is too smart. they dont get all their body to the trap. Or the trap I made is too dump.

RESULT: FAIL

Day 3: Hook is ready

mail

I made this because i want to be able to control the hook easily. i dont want the other fishes are hooked. They r very quick and dont want to be closed the hook. I tried for 1 hour.

RESULT: FAIL
Day 4 (tomorrow): not plan yet. Maybe use DIY as some friends here recommend.
