How would I know if I have a STD??

I'm beginning to think I have an STD!!(saltwater transmitted disease that is) hahaha All of this talk of hydroid, pests, and etc. has me paraniod! I have little brown fuzzy things that kinda remind me of tiny feather dusters because when I touch them, they pop back in. What could these be? I tried to look them up on line but it was too hard to tell if this is what I have.

I don't know what a hydroid looks like. I couldn't tell from the pics on the internet. Do they look like tiny brown fuzzy things that pop in when you touch them? and if so, what do I do about them??

There are also tons of different kinds of feather dusters..could be just what you think they are..little tiny brown feather dusters...I know I have some probably smaller than .25"

I think hydroids would be in a cluster, fit a dozen or so on a quarter.

Great!! How do I get rid of them? Are they the kind that floats in the water too? How do they effect the rest of my livestock? Will my whole tank be infested??
