Well this is still #2, but appearently the problem is a little worse than I was aware of.
Last night my supervisor comes over at about 11:30 and tells me I left my lights are on. Well I knew this couldn''t be true, because I stood there and waited for them to go off. I took longer than it always does. But I went out to check, My lights weren't on. So we figured that maybe someone else parked close to me, and it looked like my lights.
Then about 12:30 another co-worker come over and tells my my lights are on. So I go look nope. Then a little later, someone else comes and tells my blinker is on. It like what the heck, I go look, nothing. I am starting to wonder if someone is playing a game or what. And this continues on. After 5 oclock breack I start heading back, While walking across the parking lot. My cars, lights come on, the blinkers both or going off. I walk over to the car. and just as I get there, everything turns off. The movie "Christine" come to mind.
So now, what is wrong with my car. It is either electrical or my car is possessed. I tend to think electrical, But I kind of think I might get off cheaper if it is possessed.:eek2:
So my question to all who may have a clue, is What should I have them ( car dealership) look at? I don't want to get hit with a bunch of unnessary charges. What do you think could be the likely culprite.
I haven't had any trouble with my battery, The only thing done lately to the car is new tires, doubt if that caused this. Transmittion Flush, I don't think so. And the machanic changed the fuse for the cig lighter so I could charge my cell phone. But haven't needed to do that yet. And about 3 weeks ago I did have a new CD player put in. But I haven't had any problem up till now. If that was it, wouldn't it have done something right after? I don't know that is why I am asking you all. I am sure you all know more about this than I do.
Maybe I should just call the"Ghostbusters"

I would call the Dealer and ask. Do your lights come on when you unlock your door with the keypad? If so I wonder if it is brain, sending out weird codes. I had a car that the brain went out on and it did some weird things.

What kind of Car is it?

The light did come on when useing the keypad. Now last night key pad lite up and went click, click, click like it was unlocking the door, but it didn't unlock anything. I didn't even touch it. It just started doing that. and then stopped. Now it is dead again. I think.
My car is a 2000 Lincoln Town car. Yea, someone at work said something about my brain being scrambled, but I thought they were talking about me.
The thing that makes me nervous is it will do something stupid or wierd while I am driving. So far it just seems to do stuff while the car is off. Would it, could it go crazy when I am driving down the road?

I can't say Rena but I'll make sure to have a crucifix and some holy water should I ever get near that thing!

Do I hear Tubular Bells?:D

If it is the brain then yes, it could do strange things when you're driving it.

This morning my son was a little nervous to ride in the car. He thinks the old man that died last year has come to get his car back.

Not that I've seen, maybe they painted over it.
I just got the car last Feb. I got a great deal on it. Or so I thought.
A 2000 Town car exec series. Leather, power everything, sunroof, 40K on it. for $8000. The old guy passes away, and left it for his grandson. Well the car wasn't the grandsons style, so all he wanted was the car he had paid off. So he sold the Towncar for what he still owned on his car. That is what my son was afraid of . He thinks the old guy is mad that we have the car, and not his grandson.
Kids are so funny.

So any idea on what I should have them check out. Like I said I really don't want to pay for a lot of tests that I don't really need. You know how those guy like to take advantage of us that don't know any better.

I would think that it should be fairly straightforward for someone who knows the electrical system of the car. If it, in fact, has a "brain" that controls those functions then that's where I would think they would start since there is more than a single symptom.

So do you have an idea of what all it would involve.
I mean could they just hook the car up to like the computer and reprogram the "Brain" or would they have to change like the mother board. Like I said I don't know. Not a clue. I am just trying to figure out what to expect. Time wise, would they have my car for a few hours. or a couple days. Does something like this cost a couple hundred (ouch), or more than a couple hundred, closer to the thousand dollar range. (Just Kill me now.)

Unfortunately, never having had a car like yours or a problem like yours has, I don't have a clue as to what the cost will be. The fix may be something as simple as replacing a chip or it could be a short somewhere in your wiring or who knows. I'm not familiar with that model of car or the cost of anything associated with it.

Well I would start by searching for an uppity Lincoln message board or something like that, as I have found out rarely are we ever the first to experience any problem, in this hobby or in life.

Check with others who have the same model. If there is a board for us here I am sure there is one for Lincolns.

One google search

The internet is the greatest inovation ever. No contest.

Well I just talked to my machanic. He want me to bring it down. He will take a look. Hopefully I won't cry all the way home. I'll let you know.

If it is electrical they should be able to plug the car into a machine and it should tell them what the problem is pretty quickly..

The forum is a great Idea. I have had to use it from time to time with other things... I great way to find help!

My best guess would the GEM module. Essentially it is a Body function control module. It controls the keyless entry, alarms etc. It's not cheap but it isn't all that bad compared to a lot of other repairs. Just a guess though, have it checked first.

Maybe when they were trying to slim jim the door, it messed up some wiring that may have already been loose or shorting out.

It's an aftermarket alarm isn't it?
The car doesn't have an alarm on it. At least I was never told of one.

That was my first thought too. But this morning my son told me the light were going on and off on Monday. Two days before I had to have the cops pop it open. So now I don't know.
