i've got a DE 150 w/ magnetic ballast .(jbl) it's about 3 years old. the light has kicked off yesterday and today. don't know squat about lights. is this a fire waiting to happen or something else? thanks, james

I'm no expert. Read that lights will do that as they are at the end of their days. Start with a new bulb, then the ballast. The newer electronic ballasts use less power than the older magnetic

Are you sure its a magnetic, and not an electronic ballast? By kicking off do you mean the bulb fires then later shuts down; and does it fire back up?

I sound's like the something is overheating. But who no's. My old diy 250 magnetic used to do that then it would kick it's self back on and i junked it after my electrician buddy advised me that the ballast was overheating. That was all of the diagnosis i needed to here. Good luck

it came with the cube/aio . looks like a small car battery. it starts up and runs for a couple of hours then it turns off by itself. i waited a few minutes and it will start up again. if i had to guess i would say it was overheating. it's in the stand by itself. my house is colder than normal, not sure why it would act up. might be the flux capacitor ( i just flip a switch on a big black box)

might be the flux capacitor ( i just flip a switch on a big black box)

:lolspin: thereby sending 1.21 gigawatts into the flux capacitor...
and sending you back to 1985!!!!!!!

Sorry a little back to the future flashback...Any who yea i agree with Gary those thing's are dangerous when they start failing. That is what mine did, off then on off then on....
