http errors reset needed

Anyone having a problem with the Apex controller's internal http server? I find that mine must be reset in the network options at least once every few weeks. All of a sudden it will not respond to the browser, times out. Same with my App on my Android. Then after a reset on the controller it's fine, no problem. It is probably the http server that is causing the problem because when it returns the data during the outage period is fine, so the controller is working just fine.

I have the exact same issue. Mine will go anywhere from a couple of days to a month...but the internal webserver just stops responding. It's happened once a week for the last 3 weeks. I also use the Android app, but I doubt that has anything to do with the issue.

Your issue sounds a bit different, but I thought I would offer a suggestion just in case it is related. There has been a reported problem with spurious, possibly malicious, commands being received on http port 80. This would cause the Apex to reboot. The solution was to move to a different port on the router and then forward as usual.

Actually, that's the solution to the problem, rebooting the Apex. That resolves the issue. Knowing something about web servers I can tell you it's the web server locking up. It's not the network either because I can easily telnet to the apex and log on.

That however brings up another annoying issue with Neptune Systems. I understand from reading the web that Neptune doesn't publish the telnet commands because I guess they are protecting us from ourselves. I believe after paying as much money as I have with all the modules and probes and so forth, you would think we would be entitled to access to our own property.

I guess there is a way to reset the web server using the command prompt but it's not public. Or at least a command to remotely issue the reset command. Yes I know, I will then loose my connection to the apex but so what, presumably it will come back. So, my apex web server went out this morning and I could not access it all day because I had to wait to get home from work to push the reset button.

That should be fixed.

I wouldn't call it published but it is fairly well known. There is the telnet command 'reboot'.

Ok, cool, not sure why I didn't think of that. Seems to work but reboots the entire system. Is there also one to reset the network?

I'm on the road and don't have my notes but Curt can give you the command to export a memory dump. He might be able to determine why your unit is hanging from that. And Todd is right, you might try changing ports just to see if that helps. Also, you didn't mention your firmware version but there was a memory leak that was fixed a while back that had similar symptoms.

I'm running on port 81 and still have the web server lock up on a pretty regular basis. I guess I'll need to open up and forward the telnet port too so that I can remotely reboot if necessary.

I originally had it set to a non-standard port with the same results. Switched back a month ago.

Controller version: 4.04_BC10

I did manual updates but nothing has changed.
