Hi there.

i just got a huge amount of fraggs and small corals donated from a friend. Will this effect my system? if so how? and how should i respond?

Don't know about how it would affect your system other than crowding without knowing what type of frags they are (i.e. toadstool in your tank that was mainly SPS, or you have some other invert types that would not be reefsafe/eat your new frags, etc).

BUT, Maybe you should respond by giving other folks frags?
:)

Btw, how is it living/working in Iceland?

Once they adjust and start growing they might suck up extra alk and ca. Keep an eye on it and supplement as needed.

yes they will hurt your tank you should mail them to me! lol! no like evey one says just watch you cal ,alk and mag levels.. enjoy!

As long as youre still doing regular maintenance (water changes and such) and checking up on your tank parameters, there shouldnt be any problem with adding all those corals at once.

corals actually help water quality by using up nutes, not to say they should be used for nutrient exportation
However, this simply isnt true. Not to sound like a jerk.. it just.. isnt... lol. Corals do not directly use any appreciable amount of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, etc. Zooxanthellae in the coral may use trace amounts of these chemicals, but the coral produces more by means of waste products. If waste products are allowed to build up, they will damage/kill the coral- not feed it.
