HUGE boulder style Maze Brain

I have the opportunity to buy an extremely nice looking HUGE boulder style Closed Maze Brain, but through all the years I've kept reef aquariums, I've never had a maze before. The one that I am contemplating is kind of kidney shaped and about 10" long and 7-8" across with a crown that is probably about 5-6" tall. Both the ridges and the valley's are extremely bright green without ANY dead spots, not even small tubeworm burrows. What have been people's experiences with them, I really haven't seen much written on here about these corals. If it's care is similar to regular brain corals like Trachephylia's and Lobo's, then it should be in good hands, but this being such a large (and expensive) coral, it will be a centerpiece type of coral, so I want to make sure I can care for it well. It would be going into my 55 gallon with 150-watt HQI MH Sunpod and 36-watt actinic pc. I'm hoping to set my sump up either tomorrow or sometime over the week, with my new ASM Mini-G Skimmer, I've also got an Aqua 2000UV Sterilizer. For Flow, I've got an Aqua Clear 300 thta I'm running carbon in, 2 maxijet 1200's and a Maxi 600. Currently as far as my similar corals, I've got 2 cup corals, many blasto frags, green lobo, red lobo, red & green open brain, orange scolymia, mirulina and a green favia, so if the care is similar for it as those that I mentioned, I may just go for it.
It is similar to this pic only it's green.

I've been after some form of Maze coral myself for a few months now. I'd love to get a Platygyra that is green and purple but like you I am not seeing them sold anywhere and no one seems to have experiance with them. I think if they were difficult/impossible to keep people would talk about them like they do the elegance corals but I havent found anything. So who knows. Just keep looking I guess.

i have a small one that i keep in the same area as a favia. so far it is doing very well. mine doesnt eem to like too much light though. other then that it seems to be same care as a favia

I have one about 4"x 4". I've had it for 2 years under 15k 400watt mh.
Seems slow growing but I never feed it. I've had a couple of mishaps ie large ph or alk swings, this coral has always come through unharmed. It is bothered by Corallimorphs.

is that a veron pic?

im sure it will be compatable as far as lighting and husbandry, but the tank size seems kind of small if it really is a huge peice. a year and it may not be able to come OUT of the tank from growth. you're the judge tho. otherwise, it'll be fine.

great corals to keep, glad you decided on it. good luck.

I have a platygora and it is a fighter. I have had on numerous occasions it being attacked by other corals that i put to close to it, as well as my urchin pusshing it off a rock so it falls upside down in the back. and it still is doing its thing. I had some die off but i now have it in a good place and its doing great. Just dont be stupid with it and they seem to be pretty easy.
