HUGE Derasa clam for sale

This is the first step in breaking down my tanks. I will be listing things as they become ready. Until they are listed please don't PM me asking for "dibs" on anything. The equipment will be last after all the livestock is gone.

This is a very large Derasa clam. It is currently in my 92g corner tank and it is always a conversation piece. People are sometimes shocked that it is really a live clam as big as it is. There is a nice sized colony of black barrel sponge growing on the shell and it can stay there if you want it. I would guess the sponge is about 4"x 3".

I bought this a few years ago at about 10-11" long and 6" wide. It is now up to about 14" long and 8-10" wide when fully extended. It has a neat tiger-striped tan flesh with a greenish-blue rim and some green and blue spots on its mantle and around the siphon and mouth.

It has been on the sandbed growing 24" away from four 3 foot T5 bulbs for a couple years so you should be able to keep it with any lighting setup.

It is an instant showpiece for anyone with the space for it in their tank. I don't think it will fit inside a 5gal bucket anymore so you will need something large like a rubbermaid tub to get it home.

My black clowns host on it sometimes and actually lay there on the clam to sleep. They go back and forth between the anemone and the clam. They have laid eggs on the side of the clam before also.

Please let me know by PM if you are interested. I know this isn't for everyone but there have been a LOT of people that have seen it and said, "Wow! That thing is HUGE... want to sell it?" so now I am.

I am looking to get $250 out of it. I have seen similar clams at stores going for $400-800.

Here are a few pics. The clowns in the pics are about 2.5-3" long for size reference.

WoW... that's a beautiful clam Kevin! I wish that I had room for it. I'm sure it will make a great piece for someone.

Thanks Matt! I don't want to get rid of it but I have to do it.

Erik, I will probably go down to a cube of some sort like a Solana (now I wish I hadn't sold my Solana :( )
