Well I got the exhaust fan installed over the fish tank, and was wondering if I can control it with a humidistat?

Anyone have experience with them?

i dont have experience with them but i dont see why you couldnt use a humidistat instead of a thermostat.they are both just switches.dont they use humidistats in greenhouses instead of thermostats to turn on fans or open vents?

go look on a site that sells greenhouses.im almost certain that they use them for the fans and vents.

that unit says not for use in high humidity climates.

Not recommended for use in high humidity climates, such as summer months in Central Texas. In such climates, unit may very well exchange more humidity than it evacuates.

ooops, I guess Ill read more

I think that would be if you were controlling a large exhaust fan to cool your house meaning that it would draw outside humidity in.

i really think the ones for the greenhouses are the way to go.they are in a harsh moist hot environment at all times being outside in the greenhouse and will probably last you longer.

yeah i know what you mean about budget.that fan will end up being worth every penny to you in the long run.
