Humidity problems

Since I moved the tank downstairs and its closed off with a seperate door I have no floods of water on the windows like the last few years. My window seals started molding I noticed while doing some cleaning this summer. I run a dehumidifier 24/7 downstairs and could stand to run 2 probably! I get about 50 pints a day and if its not on for a day it smells and feels kinda balmy and stinky smelling. Like a fish smell, not basement. It runs 24/7 also so I think its underrated for my amount of dampness in the room.
When the kids were sick last year the Dr. would say run a "humidifier" and I was like HE HE "I do!" A real big one! This was when I had 3 tanks upstairs
I could imagin the water on the windows if I followed Dr.'s advise!

way it sounds is i need to borrow a big tank from one of you lol. my house is so dry i got to keep lotion on me at all times or i dry up so bad that my skin cracks. we have to run a humidifier all winter.

having a 225, 120 and a 55 all with various sumps and fuges running, we have had puddles in the window sills and constant water on the window glass....
we recently bought 2 50 pint a day dehumidifiers and there is a tremendous difference. no more puddles and we can actually see through the windows to the outside.
i can't imagine being without them now...

Looks like I need to be in the market for a few of them. I also have tanks all over the house (125, 120, 7.5, and (2)-100 gallon tubs in the living room, 20L QT/frag in the computer room, 20L in the bedroom, and a 10 in the kitchen). I know my windows are not sealed good, too, so I've been blaming it on that. I recaulked a few windows in the process of painting and they quite running water (gotta love newer home craftsmanship-not worth a damn...).

Gosh.. ny house runs very very dry. There are times that I have to runthe humidifier to help keep heat in the air. I still get at least 1-2 gallon per day evap from my tank.

Like cateyes said - we bought 2 Whirlpool AD50USR dehumidifiers at Lowe's last week. They are 50 pint models with auto-shut-off valves, and can be hooked up to a drain line if we decide to do it that way. They were on sale for $44.10 each ($169 retail). At that price, we had to try, and the difference is night and day. No more foggy windows, puddles on the window sills, and my sinuses have never been clearer.

but.. in the winter, the more humid the air, the less it takes to keep it heated....
keep the house at like 50-60% and it will feel warmer.
at least that is the trick I use to keep the cold natured lady of the house warm.

I am calling Lowes right now, what a deal! I think I need 2 anyways and a back up would be nice!
