Humu trigger pooping sand?...

I just picked up my first trigger, a humu, and it seems to be doing fine, except it looks as if it's pooping sand, doesn anybody know why? paras are normal and was drip acclimated for an hour before introduced to the tank...


Anybody know what's up? my tank is very unclear atm from it :/ there also seems to be some coming from his mouth?

Could just be sifting your sand for munchies. Which will make him do that.

My humu stirred up the sand a lot, he was always picking up mouthfuls and then swimming away streaming it out.

Without a picture it's hard to say if it's "normal" or not, but if it just seems like he is chewing up sand and spitting it out and possibly passing some out the backside, I think you're probably just fine.

Triggers are crazy, I don't think you can fix this behavior. The only thing I can think of is try feeding more.

i just brought it home when it started, so it might have been hungry, i fed it and it's stopped mostly

Mine does he same thing, picks up mouth fulls of sand and when he swims away, it is actually coming out his gills.....
