Hunters

Saturday opens up the firearms deer hunting season.

fortunatly for the deer there is only one thing that i am on the hunt for.

Should we be expecting good deer sausage from anyone this year? Any high pointers? whos all goin out?

Unfortunately I'm not this year :( However, we've got a family friend that deer hunts so we'll likely get some sausage and maybe some steaks out of the deal :D Not everybody just hunts deer though...I've been coon hunting, duck hunting, dove hunting, squirrell hunting, deer hunting, and turkey hunting :D

I have been out a few times for bow-and I have seen quite a few small bucks 2-8 pionts- mostly small/skinny hill top deer. I have seen quite a few older does, not the good eating kind, but I did not have a good shot-so no sausage yet.
I have a few tags and I will be killing the younger females if I get a shot on them.
Where do you go?
There have been some nice bucks killed around Coulterville-not too far from you.
I did pretty well on the teal(sp) ducks this year-so if anyone is interested I have about 12 (1) gallon bags of breast meat.

Around Farmington there are plenty of good places to hunt :) My family owns 10 acres but we do not use it for hunting. My parents said that since they moved there they usually see deer and turkey at least 2x a week. The family friend that I referred to in my last post owns a lot of land and we go there a lot. I went coon hunting in Kentucky but everything else has been in MO.

same thing in Chesterfield, just drive on chesterfield parkway at 6 pm on any night and you'll see deer by the library and turkeys by the airport road

Chelsey, you continue to impress me. Hunitng is one of the best ways to stay close to your kids/parents/friends. There is no experience like it.

Trottman, again I am speechless. I can't wait until you reach puberty.

That flock of Turkey has been there for at least 15 years, I usually saw them in the fields below the mall

How does me hunting impress you?

That you took the time to experience it, where 90% of girls growing up dont or choose not to. Also I have never met a female hunter that wasnt down to earth.

When you went coon hunting, did you use dogs, mules, both, my uncle was a national coon hunter and I will never forget sitting around the fire as a teenager, feeling the cold bite into my back as my face was hot from the fire, sipping my first taste of Jack Danials from my uncle as we listened to the dogs run that coon through the hills. I wish every kid could experience the sound of a pack of old country hound dogs chasing a coon

We just used dogs, didn't need any mules for this trip. I went over thanksgiving break several years ago with my cousin...it was FREEZING cold but I had a blast. The look on my parents' faces when they woke up at my aunt and uncle's house the next moring and saw skinned coons hanging from the trees was priceless! Didn't need any mules, but I've had a coon hunting mule in the past that could jump like crazy and I currently have a yearling mule that I might use for jumping, I think he's too much of a chicken for hunting.

people laugh when I tell them mules can jump HIGH to clear fences, and it is a trip to ride one, especially after you land on your *** on the other side of the fence LOL

nothing like shooting and skinning animals to keep a girl down to earth huh?

trottman will be hunting for his prey at the mall by American Eagle from 330-close throughout the season

yeah, the fields under the mall is what I meant....same flock of turkeys....weird, surprised no one has run over any yet that Ive seen

Mules can jump higher than horses because of their muscle structure. Also, a mule can jump from a standstill, whereas a horse must have a running start. There are actually mule jumpoffs and stuff. Here in Columbia they have the All Star Mule show...AWESOME to watch! Yes, I am starting to sound like a hick...

why wait for deer meat at work we been making road kill chili from last year deer meat and been having sausage almost one day every week.
unfortunately i've only been at olin brass for a year now and low on seniority so i will be working alot of overtime while senior guys go hunting. So you guys will have to post some good pics if you get any.
