Huntsville Area LFS

Are there any good LFS in the Huntsville area that stock saltwater/reef stuff? Please tell me there is a better source for livestock than The Aquarium Shop.....

Yes, there is another LFS in the area. Coral Reef Aquatics is located between Madison and Athens. It is a saltwater/reef only store. It has a somewhat unusual store hours - open only in the afternoon from Thursday to Sunday. The sales rep at petco on university told me the petco in Decatur sells saltwater fish and has more saltwater items can anybody vouch for that I think I'm going to ride out there

The aquarium shop has a sohal tank like RCs mascot for sale i think for 120 lol its pretty cool too bad i test their water one time from some snails i purchased and it was 120 ppm ouch

Years ago I was in there and they had saltwater fish and supplies. I had forgotten about it. May have to swing by there if I go to the Swan Creek range this weekend.

Yeah the petco in decatur has saltwater fish. Not the best selection but they have the basics. Yellow tangs, different clown fish, damsels, some anems, corals (really expensive and they never look very healthy) some crabs, shrimps, a few angels, and some other basic stuff. There knowlegde is limited but their stock is pretty healthy IMO.

Stopped by Coral Reef Aquatics today. It is awesome to finally find a LFS that is knowledgeable when it comes to saltwater. Great store and it is less than 10 minutes from my house. Now if my tank would hurry up and cycle so I can get to adding livestock.

i personally dont care for a cra i ask how much a 1" frag was he said he had to frag it, that i could buy the common 1"Mini colony for for$150

Didn't get into coral prices as my tank is still cycling. But it is just like any other retail store, comparison shop and make an informed decision. Their supplies were priced well enough to compete with online prices after you add in shipping and I prefer to buy locally if I can.

So I pick up a coral beauty from the petco in decatur turns out it had ick my qt then it dies the next day. So the store manager says hell give me a new one when the shipment comes in and give me a fresh bag so it doesn't have to go in the tank. The coral do look sick but their prices are off the chain. The only thing I notices is the btas where all sucked to the glass at the top of the tank bc they were under T8s the LTA was under the T5s and it was 15.99 and the btas were $25.99 and that's not the sale price I said wow. They have a lot of yellow tangs I think that's who have the ich in the tanks tho. I may deal with them to stock my 55 but I want the fresh shipmentsm

If you don't mind telling how much was the coral beauty. Also, what were the yellow tang prices like and how small were they?

Coral beauty was $25 and the tangs were $39.99 I rather get a tang from the aquarium shop. I hope they shipment come in today cause I'm riding out there this morning. They can't say its my waters lol I'm running a canister and using tap water and only have 10 ppm of nitrates.
