What happened with the Oceanic Salt fervor a year or two ago?

A bunch of people lost their entire collections and the fervor stopped.

There is no magic salt. There is no 'best' salt. People have good results with just about every salt on the market. Changing because you hear that one is 'better' is generally a bad idea. :D

If kenitic actually orders any of this stuff, he will just sell it again next week.

true, get in line!

on topic: I read a lot of debate, but there's one bottom line, everyone has different experiences with each salt, and sometimes it just seems that tank problems are sometimes blamed on the salt brand rather than other problems, so it's hard to tell. there's a few "salt tests" going on, I think especially by MARSH, to see what the different salts really do. I don't know any specifics though =/ Maybe do a search.

I have only heard good stuff about HW salt so far, and since I have a RO/DI (typhoon III) now, I was thinking of using this mix. I believe the ALK on it is very low, 7.5 to 8.5, which would work really well in a Ca reactor setup.

The specifics haven't come out yet, but bet that there will be some disagreement as to the results and methodology.

There is good and bad stuff/talk about every salt. My biggest concern with brand is availability. I would never go with something I couldn't drive easily to get in case I had to do a 100% water change. What are you going to do next time you need it and is backordered again? Switch cold turkey (what many feel is the reason for the bleaching in the Oceanic switches)? :D
