Hydor is great!

Finally found one of those Hydor Flo Deflectors.....man that thing is fanastic! I got rid of the stock POS pump, and replaced it with a Maxi900. Got rid of the locline, and attatched the Hydor directly to the output. Everyone in the tank looked happier within the first 15 minutes. While i'm at it....I might as well tell everyone about the other mod I did today. I put a submersible light (10W) in the bottom of chamber #2, and then jammed it full of macro algae....sort of like a mini refugium. I have had horrible problems with nitrates for the last 9mos, and I hope exporting the macro once it starts to grow will help bring the NO3 down. Ant other ideas or experiences would be GREATLY appreciated. Happy holidays to all.

you love the hydor now but will hate it in a few months when it quits working you clean it and it works for a while maybe just a few hours and quits again, we loved ours at first and now it is in the trash

I've had one for almost a year... still working like a champ. Honestly.. I've never cleaned the thing that I can recall.

I have one on the way to replace the duck (which is a pos). I hope its better than the duck attachment that came with my tank.

Do any of you find that when the Hydor spins up it jets water out through the surface of the water??

I was concerned about that.

It's not as if it's shooting up a fountain.... I have one attached to an MJ900 in the stock outlet of a 24 gallon aquapod. The wave/surface agitation is actually desirable in terms of helping with gas exchange and should you have a MH set up, getting your glitter lines goin.

I have 2 hydor's in my 29 gallon biocube. The flow is amazing. I didn't like the bulkiness of the powerhead, so I used locline on the output of the MJ900 and hid the powerhead in a corner behind some rock and put the hydor connection about 10" away from it.

I saw the same thing, my BTA, xenia and frogspawn all looked healthier within an hour.
