Hydor Koralia

I had seen an earlier post that you guys expected to have these by the second week in Feb. I was curious if you had them in yet?

I spent some time with the Hydor rep this weekend and he confirmed with me that they will be in the first of this week!

Sorry for the delay!

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,
Do you have any dimensions on these pumps, as Hydor does not list them on their site. Also, are they available at this time? Thanks.

Bill

Hi Bill,

All of the Koralia's are currently in stock. The dimensions are as follows:

Model 1 - 3.75"L x 2.25"W

Model 2 - 4.75"L x 2.75"W

Model 3 - 4.75"L x 2.75"W

Model 4 - 5.25"L x 3.25"W

Thanks,
Jeremy

For a 210 I would definitely go with either a Vortech or a Tunze Turbelle Stream. The nano Streams and the Koralia's would be too small for that size tank.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Your website shows the #4's to be sold out. Is this true or has the site not been updated since this last shipment?

No, we are currently sold out on the #4 right now. The only one we have left in stock is the #2.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi Guys....

I"m not sure what other vendors have been told, but Hydor has informed us that this is a voluntary recall for inspection only. They have come across two pumps out of about one thousand that had an molding issue, where some left over plastic / burrs were created that caused some noise and vibration of the pump.

If you currently have a model 2 or model 3, you're fine using it as is, and there is no need to send it back for inspection. If you do however come across any excess noise / vibration, then you would want to send it in for inspection to determine if the pump needs to be replaced.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Could you double-check with Hydor for us?
I was told by a Drs. Foster & Smith rep that this was an issue with a faulty seal allowing water into the motor causing voltage to leak into the tank.
That would be a huge difference from a vibration issue.
We've just ordered 8 Koralias from you and most are #3's so we're really invested in what the recall is about.

Thanks

Hi John,

Yes, that is the fax/email that we received from Hydor directly.

The issue has been with two out of one thousand pumps, so it's VERY unlikely you will have any issues. If you do, let us or Hydor know, but I would use them with confidence right now.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,

I hate to jump into someone elses thread, but what model pumps do you recommend for a 75gal. mainly softies and LPS.

Thanks for the info Jeremy... just got my #3s in a few days ago and was wondering if I needed to send them back in already. Mine are running smooth as silk, with no problems at all.

Sweet little pumps!

Jeremiah85,

I would do two of the model 3's for that size tank if it were mainly soft/lps. If the tank was sps dominated then I would lean more towards the 4's in there.

coyotesteven,

No need to send them back if everything is doing fine. The recall is completely voluntary, and up to you if you want to send them into Hydor for inspection.

Thanks,
Jeremy

We were hoping to see them by the end of this month, but nothing yet so far. We'll make sure we stick them back up on the front page of our site as soon as they're back in.
