Hydra26 and SPS

Over the weekend, I finally got a chance to go to RAP. I'd picked up a SCA-66 tank (32x24x20) that I will use exclusively for SPS. I am thinking using two Hydra52s to light it and the AI rep at RAP was showing me their show tank (48x24x24) being lit by only two Hydra26s. Do you think two Hydra26s will be sufficient for SPS towards the bottom? I will be only keeping no more than an inch of sand on the bottom.

Im doing a sps build with ai hydras over a 48x24x16 tank. I currently have 3 hydras over it and I will consider adding a forth if I can get one used for a good deal. In your situation 2 hydra52s will more than suffice to grow sps towards the bottom. Two hydra26 will work also in a 20" deep tank. I would go with hydra26 and have the option to add a third (3 hydra26 is the same price as 2 hydra52). I believe with LED lighting that coverage is more important than wattage, you want no dead/dark spots or shadowing throughout the tank. One of the best LED sps reef tanks I have ever witnessed in person had 5 AI vegas over 120 gallon tank..

I'm about 5 months into my first tank (36x20x16) with two AI 26s. The corals seem to like them.

here are some growth photos taken last month

the rest are just encrusting like crazy
