Hydroids

How do I get rid of Hydroids if I don't have joe's juice? Someone told me joe's juice is pretty good, but I don't have some and I don't know where to buy some.

I believe Joe's Juice is for aiptasia not hydroids, not sure if it works on both, don't believe so.

Kalk paste works best on hydroids. Turn off the pumps and cover their colonies with a layer of paste. Depending on how bad the infestation is, you may not want to do all the colonies at once -- once you turn the pumps back on all that kalk is going to get in the water and bump up the pH.

what if the colony is mixed in with zoas, can I still apply the kalk paste?

It will kill the zoanthids, too. Joe's Juice will also kill zoanthids.

You can try pulling the rock out and using tweezers to pull out the hydroid colonies, but be sure to rinse well with saltwater afterwards and don't do this inside the tank.

I will go for option # 2. I have no choice, they are on a beautiful branching colony of fire and ice zoas.

I don't suppose there is some to type of fish or crab that eat hydroids right?

Not that we have in the hobby, but it stands to reason *something* eats them in the wild.
