Hyper salinity dip for old rock?

I purchased a used tank that the owner had stopped giving it's full attention. The live rock has been sitting in saltwater tubs and buckets for a week. The rock was heavily covered with spaghetti worms and many bristle worms when it was in the previous tank. I am ready to begin aquascaping the tank. I've been told to dunk the rock in a hyper salinity water (1.040) for 10-20 secs then scrub and dip in several regular salinity baths to clean off detritus and pests. Just looking for confirmation that this is the best way to proceed

Why don't you want the life thats on the rock? The excess worms will die off without a food source. If you're going to use hyper salinity I would just use a power washer and freshwater or acid since high salinity will kill everything off anyway

I was told that the hyper salinity for the 10-20 secs would not kill the beneficial bacteria that make it "live" rock, but expel alot of the pests. But that's why I'm looking for more info and learning
