Hypes Archipelago

Heres a quick rundown

Lighting

The tank is currently lit by a 24" 6 bulb ATI Dimmable T5 sunpower. Theres also XHO reefbrites for actinic supplementation. The bulb combo is a mix of Blue Plus,Coral Plus, Purple Plus and GE6500k. The lights are currently about 8" off the surface. Light cycle runs from about 7-6 with the lights ramping from 0-100%. Maximum light output is maintained from 10-4 and then ramps back down.

Water Movement

Currently i have two MP10W which sync and are controlled by a neptune apex controller. The pumps run at a maximum of 50% and currently utilize all the modes provided by ecotech. Every few hours the pumps change modes to create a very diverse flow pattern throughout the day.

Filtration

Ive used a number of different filtration methods but recently decided to go back to the basics. Most recently i was vodka dosing and then shortly after using a GFO/Carbon reactor. Long story short i was stripping my water clean and starving my corals. So i decided to go back to using a refugium. I dedicated one chamber of my sump to cheatomorpha and the other to caulerpa prolifera. Im using 16 watt flood light over each chamber and its on 24/7. This keeps my nitrates at 0 and my phosphates at about 0.06 I run a small bag of GFO to get phosphates a bit lower as to help outcompete nuisance algae in the display but i have to be careful so as to not lower it too much and risk killing the good macroalgae.

Dosing

I currently only dose Reef code B for Alkalinity from Brightwell Aquatics.Im using a drews doser(controlled by my apex) to dose around 6ml daily. The system doesnt consume enough calcium between water changes to require dosing. (Oceanic saltmix runs really high in the calcium department) I perform 5 gallon water changes weekly and add additional iodide, potassium and trace elements to enhance the saltmix.

Feeding

Im feeding 1-2 times daily. I alternate mainly between spirulina brine and mysis shrimp.. I also feed rotifers, baby brine shrimp, reefpearls, pellets and zooplankton.

Hope that answers most questions but if you have any others feel free to ask.

I also feed rotifers, baby brine shrimp, reefpearls, pellets and zooplankton.

How often are you feeding this mix?

What ISO did you use and what kind of WB did you pick? My WB tends to be bluish no matter what I picked, manual or preset. I tired different lens but I seems not focusing even the camera think the object is in focus.

I keep the WB at 10,000K and the ISO ranges from 200-600. I would suggest manually focusing if your camera has trouble locking onto your subject.

I also feed rotifers, baby brine shrimp, reefpearls, pellets and zooplankton.

I usually feed twice a day but a different combination of foods each time.

Just read through the whole thread. Simply a-mazing!
Can I just ask what your parameters are?
Also how much clean crew do you have and do you ever turn or syphon your sand?

I think our tastes in corals have trended in the same direction over time! I have all of those pieces in my tank and love them!! My cali tort looks very similar to yours. Your borealis took on a completely different growth form though, mine is such a weird shape. And I love your hoek, that bright blue is phenomenal looking! Mine is a much darker blue.

Great minds think alike  I think my borealis took on such a weird growth pattern because i mounted it horizontally. Hey ange is your hoek an intense violet color under ambient lighting? Its the coolest thing..

Absolute beauty! 2 thumbs up!

Thanks so much bebe

Do you run ozone or is your orp naturally that level?

I dont run ozone but i do think regular water changes, running carbon and using uv sterilizers help contribute to the higher readings in my system.

Brilliant. Loving the sps I've just started getting some for my tank but I don't know any of the types.
Would you be able to post a few pics of yours with names? I'm sure no one would mind the extra pics hehe.

Having recently torn down my tank... this makes my heart ache.(budget/time constraints and did not want the corals or fish to suffer)

I wanted to downsize when I start back up and this makes me think that less can be more. Keep up the good work!

LOLz, +1! I mounted mine vertically and it grew out into this crazy "joe the coral" shape, still waiting to see if it normalizes or stays weird. I guess the horizontal thing was key for a "normal" growth form. Under ambient light my hoek looks purple/blue, just like my cali tort. Probably the only two pieces that actually look "good" under a warm incandescent bulb. Makes me think even higher of that South African sunlit only reef I drool on all the time, insane colors considering!
