Hypes Archipelago

Well the outage is too long(still without full power) but the sharp drop in temperature is what killed everything temps dipped into the 40's the first night and while the backup was running it wasnt enough to keep the tank warm.

Yep unfortuantely shes gone. The storm took her from me.

Just wanted to thank everyone that has checked in or commented in this thread appreciate your thoughts and feedback. This tank went for a great run and it was awesome being able to share it with you guys. Look forward to keeping up with your builds and watching them progress.

Crap man, really sorry to hear that, it's a big loss and the tank was really at an all new high. :sad1: :worried2:

Are you planning on restarting it?

Uggh. I'm really sorry about your loss and hope you come back from it soon. In the context of what people are going through on the east coast, I guess there are bigger problems to be dealt with right now. Hope this is the biggest problem you are dealing with but my guess is that might not be the case.

Thanks man. Well im lucky some people lost their lives and i lost a fishtank..

This is horrible news. I'm in NY and luckily never lost power. Just filled my 15g yesterday because of boredom.

I followed this thing since the begging. I feel like I lost this tank along with u. That being said you guys have so much more to deal with than aquariums. take if from a guy who went through Katrina. And worked it.

+1 hype, been here since the beginning. Sorry to see this tank go buddy, it was truly amazing. I'm glad my 2-wks of Ike induced power outage were prior to my reefing days, it would have been a disaster. I do have a generator on standby now though, lesson learned.

I saw your for sale thread last week and now it makes sense unfortunately.

Sorry that you lost your tank but as you said it is insignificant compared to what others have experienced.

I hope that you return soon because of the enjoyment we all experienced from your dedicated work.

Good luck.

Loved this tank from the very beginning. Was definitely an inspiration when recently setting up my 80 gal shallow. Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys so much for the well wishes . Im sincerely grateful for all of the positive feedback and im glad this build was able to inspire..

This tank was one of the finest ever on rc. I like your multi targeted approach to filtration. I saw that a couple of items were dropped, or picked up....

  • Floss
  • Chaeto
  • Sponge under the chaeto
  • 2x UV sterilizers
  • denitrator
  • carbon
  • gfo
  • zeolites
  • dsb & mangroves
  • carbon

Which combination were you happiest with?

ATI Dimmable T5 with reefbrite supplementation.

Really nice Tank!!!

Are you still running this light combo?

What is your favorite light combination to date as far as cover and color I see you have has a few LOL.

I recently bought this light fixture setup from Rehype.

the bulb combo consist of:

(2)ATI Blue plus
(1)ATI actinic
(1)ATI purple plus
(1)Giesemann 6500K
(1)ATI coral plus

and not necessarily in that order. and then the two Reefbrite blue LEDs mounted to each side. His tank really inspired me! I plan on building my own shallow reef tank in the near future. currently, I am using this light over my redseamax 130d and the bulb combo that rehype included is amazing.

sad to hear that this tank has been tanken down just saw the build thread really amazing. Did he build the bracket for the reef light leds to come off the fixture himself?

Rehype, I was reading this thread from the beginning for the last 30 minutes (just started getting serious about building an 8g nano in the last month) and my heart dropped when I read that you lost this tank...

You did a really amazing job, your pictures and descriptions really told a beautiful story and I'm truly inspired by your tank.

Your willingness to answer just about every question people asked, some of them 5-6 times without getting snarky :) , and the way you responded thanking people for every single compliment is unique and as a newbie who has been abused on other forums in the past I'd like to thank you for this thread. Solid gold.

Hopefully you get another tank going and you can inspire even more people!
