Hypo or Copper?

Copper is the best, fastest treatment for ich. It is guaranteed to work in a couple of days if done correctly. Most of the fish you buy are in water with copper.

Ok thanks for the input, I think I'll go with both, what do you suggest to get the salinity reading down to, and over how many days to progress to it?

You only want to use one at a time, not both together. I've used hypo myself, and I'd use it whenever possible, unless treating a fish sensitive to salinity changes. I figure the fewer chemicals I use with my tank the better.

Correction on the 6 to 8 weeks QT period. I think ick has a 2 to 3 week life cycle. The QT period should be about 4 weeks. At 3 weeks I started bring the silinity back up to normal.
This method work on this end. It's been 6 month and so far so good.

I think copper is best. I do a freshwater dip first, I always adjust the ph to match the water they are in first. I then put them in the QT with copper and slowly (4 days or so) raise the temp to 83. Then I leave them in there for over 2 weeks, then l slowly lower the temp back down to the DT temp, and put them in.
